This is a 'classical education.' How it all works is is essentially a three-part process training of the mind. The early years of school are spent in absorbing facts, systematically laying the foundations for advanced study. This is the Grammar part. In the middle grades, students learn to think through arguments (logic) In the high school years, they learn to express themselves (Rhetoric). Rhetoric is the ability to express oneself eloquently, and put everything into practice. Whilst we have undoubtedly some excellent speakers in the world today - it is somewhat different to just being able to speak well - rhetoric is being able to speak, no matter the subject, challenge anyone no matter the context and put your points across articulately, coherently and powerfully.
