While the Greeks and Indians were well versed with Astronomy as the night sky has intrigued humanity since millennia. But it would have never evolved to what it is today, had it not been for the Muslim World. There was a big leap from Ancient astronomy which was founded on vague philosophical ideas and hardly distinguishable from folk astrology to Mathematically consistent physical science that we now call Modern Astronomy.
