Why You Haven't Reached Those Goals

How many times have you set a goal, got all amped up and excited just thinking about the end result but before you know it, it became a distant thought in the back of your head. Far back.

If you made a list of all the goals you ever set and compared it to a list of goals you actually achieved, how many would you tick off?

Yeah… I thought so!

I’ve made a list too. But this time, it’s the reasons why you haven’t reached those goals yet.

1. You don’t believe that you can - You set the goal. You have it all planned. You’re challenging yourself. You’re excited about this. But something doesn’t feel quite right. You start thinking about how difficult it sounds, you will need to show up everyday, put in the work and sacrifice a little here and compromise a little there. You’re not sure of you’re ready for this. It’s too much to take in. You really want this for yourself BUT YOU JUST DON’T BELIEVE YOU CAN DO IT!!!

2. You’re afraid - Yes, many people are afraid of success. It’s an unknown. You don’t know how it feels to be successful so you resort to feeling the way you do about anything else you don’t know much about - afraid. You may really want this for yourself, but you also question yourself about it. “Do I really deserve this? Am I worthy or it? Maybe I’m fooling myself. I really really want this… but”. This is when you need to remind yourself you are indeed worthy of it and good enough to achieve it. How can you reach the top of the success ladder if you don’t start climbing?

3. No clear route - you know what you want but you have no real map to get you there. Once the goal has been identified, it’s not going to come to life on it own. You have to put pen to paper and scribble down every possibility that comes to mind about how to get to your desired destination. Take Notes, do research, find a mentor, vision board, affirmations. This is how you show up for yourself in that regard.

4. Too scared to leave your comfort zone - where you are right now was once a place you never thought you’d be. But you took steps, big and small, did the work, no matter how afraid you were and here you are. But now, just like everything in life, it’s time to move on and evolve. Reaching a goal means you will have to do things you don’t normally do. Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable, but you do them anyway because you know that the reward is so much bigger and better than the fear holding you back.

A key factor in any goal, business, relationship, diet, healing is believing in yourself. I believe that everyone has potential. But more importantly it’s up to you to believe it and bring it out. Don’t live an average life, live an aspiring life. You have a purpose to fulfill your potential. It’s time to do just that.

I speak. I write. I coach.

I want to make the world a better place.

As an avid reader and writer, it’s no surprise that communications became my career and line of work. There is never one thing in particular that defines who I am, except the fact that I am passionate about everything I do. That made me the odd one out most of my life. It made realize how important it is to listen to my heart.
