How did this Muslim scholar describe our world 20 years back?

Shaykh Imran Hosein is an Islamic expert in the field of Islamic Eschatology. Islamic Eschatology is the study of death, the afterlife, the End Times and what Islam calls the Last Age and the Day of Judgement. When it comes to the field of the signs of the Last Age all religions especially the Abrahamic faiths have some amount of literature about how history would end. Islam comparatively has the largest and most detailed tradition of Eschatology. Both the Quran and the Hadith discuss the subject in profound language.

The Prophet ﷺ said in a hadith,

“I and the Hour have been sent like these two”, and he joined his index and middle finger. (Sunan Ibn Majah)

So in a way Islam is an ‘eschatological’ tradition as the Prophet of Islam himself heralded the Last Age.

Now with regards to Shaykh Imran Hosein, his education in International Affairs at the Graduate School of International Relations in Switzerland, Geneva (the best in the field) and the University of the West Indies, along with his rigorous education in the Islamic sciences in various institutes like the Al Azhar University and the Aleemiyah Institute (Karachi) prepared him to take up the honourable and challenging task of establishing a complete and independent discipline of Islamic Eschatology. This branch of literature before him was a part of Hadith studies. But the genius of Shaykh Imran Hosein is to lay the foundation for this field and incorporate and facilitate its grasp by bringing in analysis from International affairs and Global Economics. Because the literature discusses and anticipates global events and political plus economic shifts, it is inevitable that to make sense of this branch of study that we bring in everything from these various fields of study.

There are scholars who excel in a particular field but they don’t necessarily pioneer the field or a branch of the field. The work of laying the foundations of the field is done centuries before them by the earlier generations of scholars. Like for instance Imam Abu Hanifa is credited with establishing the field of Fiqh as an independent discipline. The credit that is due to Shaykh Imran is that he has pioneered this field of Islamic Eschatology and now paved the way for a completely novel yet much needed area of Islamic studies. The significance of this field will keep on increasing as time progresses.

Adding to his education, his career as a diplomat for the government of Trinidad and Tobago, served as the perfect ground to establish his great understanding of global geopolitics and the international economic system. But it was his deep understanding and dedication to the Quran that enabled him to do something that none of the Muslim scholars today have accomplished. He not only has established the field of Islamic Eschatology as an independent discipline in its own right, he also is the only Muslim scholar who has deconstructed the modern world post Khilafa and contemporary events and has laid out their future implications using the Quran.

You may wonder how someone can study International affairs or the global economic system using the Quran? Shaykh Imran Hosein, in my opinion is the only Muslim scholar in the English speaking world who literally lives by the ayat that defines the Quran as an ‘explanation of everything’.

Allah says,” And we sent down the Quran as an explanation of ALL THINGS” (16:89)

All Muslim scholars recite this ayat. All Muslim scholars believe in this ayat and this function of the Quran being the best guide and explanation of everything. But very very few actually live by it. Very few actually go ahead with building their intellectual career based on it. Shaykh Imran is one of those very very few.

Shaykh Imran is the only scholar that I am aware of who studies the historical process in general and International affairs in particular through the lens of the Quran. An thus his explanations about events are the most coherent and logical. Moreover, they are Iman-boosting. How? Because as he explains a particular event connecting and explaining it using a Quranic ayat or hadith, the necessary result is the awe that fills up the heart when one realizes that our religious book and our Beloved Messenger ﷺ had informed us of everything 14 centuries back. The consequence is an increase in certainty in the heart, increased love for Allah and the Messenger ﷺ, a boost in spirituality and a clearer vision about how to deal with the tribulations we face individually as well as an Ummah.

Let me share with you one of the startling analysis that he presented some 20 years back.

In his best selling book Jerusalem in the Quran, Shaykh Imran Hosein predicts in 2001 how Israel is on its way to becoming a super power. Then there are lectures of his on Youtube where he is saying the same thing as far back as 2002. Its like saying Hong Kong would become a super power or Bahrain would become a super power or Taiwan would become a superpower or Sri Lanka would become a superpower.

I shared this with some of my relatives and they laughed at the idea of how tiny Israel, barely surviving on US aid would eventually supersede western nations like the US, the UK, Russia, China, France, Canada and become a superpower. The Israeli population is equal to a single state in India. Its not just the miniscule size of the place, but also the constant state of war and conflict that it has inflicted upon itself.

Were it not for the massive financial aid from the US, Israel would be wiped out from the world map in a matter of minutes by Iran or Pakistan. And Israel knows that.

So here’s the equation

Israel is tiny

Israel is in constant conflict

Israel survives on foreign aid.

Israel’s population is less.

Then how can it become a superpower logically? All the odds are against Israel. For someone to say that a nation like that would one day become the ruling state in the world would be held outrageous and unbelievable.

If we just see the pictures of Jewish immigrants to the Middle east from just a few decades back, especially the ones that came from Russia fleeing persecution or from Germany, it would be unbelievable that such a people have any chance of becoming anything let alone a super power on the global stage.

Let me explain this by an example. If I told you that the Rohingya Muslim community, the most persecuted community in the world who are fleeing Burma right now would become a global super power in a few decades. That would be unbelievable.

A people who have clothes barely covering their body today, how can they replace and out do the richest and the most powerful nations of the world? While the event itself when it occurs would be shocking, but prediction is even more startling. Especially when its 20 years in advance.

SubhanAllah, we now live in a world where we are very close to seeing Israel become a superpower and eventually even replace the US as its illegitimate successor. The three things that you need today to become a superpower or a ruling state of the world are:

Cutting edge technology

Control over money

Zero ethics

And Israel now has all three.

Israel has emerged as the world leader in cyber technology and biotechnology both of which are the important factors determining a nations political standing and military power today. Besides it is also the only nuclear armed country in the middle east.

Notice above that I said ‘control over money’, and not just money. Why?

Because you could be a rich nation but if the control of the international economic system of the world is in someone else’s hands, that huge amount of money is no more than a mirage.

Take the case of Kuwait that is a rich nation and the Kuwaiti Dinar has the highest currency value, even more than the US Dollar and Pound. But why isn’t Kuwait the ruling state in the world? Because it does not control the international monetary system. The entire economy of the world is controlled by a select few banks all of which are owned by Zionists.

Another important insight that Shaykh Imran makes in his famous lecture (link below) is the victory of Afghanistan over US and the humiliating expulsion of NATO forces. This lecture delivered in 2002 predicts an event that we now in 2021 have witnessed.

US forces along with NATO have suffered a terrible defeat at the hands of a small militia- the Taliban and consequently, they have been forced to negotiate a peace deal with these fierce fighters. Of course this is not the first time that the Afghanistan has inflicted a humiliating defeat on a super power. Way back in the day the ‘not-at-all’ Great Britain met with failure in its colonial ambitions for Afghanistan. Then came the mighty Soviet Union that was terribly defeated by the Afghan fighters. And now we see history repeating itself.

Undoubtedly, I can say that the core reason why Shaykh Imran predicted this humiliating defeat of the superpowers in Afghanistan is his deep understanding of the hadith literature on Khorasan and how this geographical location will eventually play a strategic role in Akhiruzzaman. It is the army from Khorasan that will have the Mahdi leading them in time to come.

I wish the US and NATO intelligence had read these hadith so that they would’ve saved themselves from such humiliation, death and defeat. Thousands of their troops have been killed, disabled and diagnosed with PTSD. Billions of dollars have been wasted and the billion dollar investment in infrastructure will now aid the reconstruction and defence of Afghanistan as it gears itself for an Islamic government.

But now the big question is how can a person know something like this 20 years in advance? Its not really about the person, its about the ‘Book’ that he has approached for guidance. Shaykh Imran Hosein came to this unanticipated conclusion because of his deep study of the Quran and the Hadith.

That’s what you call scholarship ! That is what a scholar is supposed to do. He approached the Quran the way Allah wants us all to approach it- as an ‘explanation of all things’. Knowledge of how to use the Quran as a lens to view the world, gives you insight of what is way beyond normal perception and comprehension. You can see beyond the barriers of space and time. You can see what others cannot.

The first requirement for this unparalleled insight and understanding is that you will have to have unshakable belief that the Quran can explain EVERYTHING. Everything means everything that happened before it and everything that will happen till the end of time and beyond. Most of our scholars either treat the Quran as a Book of dos and dont’s or as a book of stories or as a mere spiritual manual.

But in reality the Quran is way beyond that. It is a sea of knowledge which has no shore. It has the best explanation and guidance related to each and every matter whether it pertains to us at the personal level or as an Ummah or as humanity. Those matters could pertain to the field of politics or economics or science or ethics or history or religion or cosmology or philosophy. Name it and you will find the best most accurate and the truest explanation in the Quran. All you need is a heart that is sincere and a spiritual eye that is trained to look for those explanations. That is because it is a Living Book. That is the miracle of the Quran. While it was revealed to the Prophet in the 7th century, it is not bound to the 7th century. It explains to us events that are happening in the 21st century. This is biggest sign that the Quran is from the All Knowing and All Wise Creator of the universe.
